Women’s Programming Initiative

The Women’s Programming Initiative aims to offer programs that range from social to study to service and everything in between. You do not have to attend every program; when you see something that interests you, come!

How to Get Involved

Following trends among Jewish communities around the country, Temple Sinai is re-envisioning how we engage our women, moving away from a sisterhood model and into a new structure that we believe allows us to meet a wider range of needs. We want the women of Temple Sinai to feel like they have a community here and that that community can meet their needs, whether intellectually, spiritually, socially or otherwise. To meet this goal, in December of 2019 we launched Women’s Programming at Temple Sinai, an umbrella for activities offered to women that don’t require membership in an additional organization.

In addition to one-off women’s events, we offer a few ongoing programming opportunities (with more to come!)

Women’s Torah Study on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30PM. This group is an opportunity to see our tradition in new lights and through new lenses. We’ll look at commentaries, both traditional and also more out-of-the-box, modern works. This group is open to all women and no background in Torah study is necessary. Come once, come every month or something in between – please join us.

If you have questions about Women’s Programming and/or would like to get involved, please contact Leah Goldberg at leah@sinaidenver.org or Lisa Thorner at lisa@sinaidenver.org

Rosh Hodesh Group

Formed in early 2021, the Temple Sinai Women’s Rosh Chodesh Chavurah meets monthly on or around Rosh Chodesh (the start of the new Hebrew month) for hourly meetings and discussions. Members take turns organizing a topic of conversation. The group meets over dinner (bring your own food!) alternating between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM start times to accommodate different schedules. The group began meeting over Zoom and has transitioned to monthly meetings in-person. In between the monthly meetings, members maintain a shared Jamboard (an online shared note-taking tool) to pool resources and ideas. This group is open to Temple Sinai women ages 16+. For more information, contact Shana Cohen (shana@sinaidenver.org) or Janet Walker-Snider(jws76033@gmail.com).
