Sinai Sundays

2022-2023: Stories from the Talmud

Join Rabbi Rick Rheins over 10 sessions for this year’s Sinai Sundays class which will focus on some of the most the important stories in the Babylonian Talmud known as aggadot. The Aggadot are classic and beloved narrative passages in the Talmud that have taught, entertained, and challenged generations. Each week we will read and discuss different stories along with selections of traditional commentary. It does not matter if you already have a familiarity with Talmudic text or are exploring it for the first time. Everyone will find this class an exciting and inspiring experience.

Sinai Sundays is currently hosted online. Zoom links will be sent out prior to the start of each session.

Dates for the 2023-2024 year will be announced soon.

Biblical Stories: Exploring the Stories of the Hebrew Bible

Tuesdays, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

A NEW CLASS!

The Hebrew Bible has so many extraordinary stories that are found after the first five Books of the Torah. On most subsequent Tuesdays at noon, Rabbi Rheins will offer a Virtual class where we will read major sections of the Books of Joshua, Judges, Samuel (I & II), and Kings (I & II). A PDF of each week’s text will be sent out with the Zoom hyperlink. We’ll review selections from classic commentary as well as insights from modern scholarship to get a rich and full understanding of the texts. Of course, we’ll also have ample opportunities to share our thoughts. Join us as we explore the stories of the Hebrew Bible!

The Zoom information will be sent out weekly, check your emails!

Classes will resume in the Fall of 2023. Check your emails for announcements.

Weekly Torah Study

Saturdays, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Join Rabbi Zwerin and Rabbi Kaye this morning to explore the next few verses in the Torah, and examine the commentary surrounding the text. Regardless of previous knowledge, everyone is welcome to add to the weekly discussions or just to listen. The class began with Genesis 1 in 1986, and are now in our 37th year. We have now reached the final few chapters of Deuteronomy. As this last book of the Torah comes to an end, so does the life of Moses … and, he has much yet to teach us all before he ascends his last mountain.

Weekly Torah Study is currently hosted online. The Zoom link is sent out weekly in the Temple Sinai Shabbat Announcements.

Torah Study for the 2023-2024 year is on summer break. Check your emails for our Fall dates!

Adult B’nei Mitzvah

If you never have had the joy of leading a Shabbat service and reading from the Torah as a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, now is the time! Over the years, hundreds of Sinai adults have participated in this program.

Our Adult B’nei Mitzvah is a two-part program. The first part will help adults learn prayer book Hebrew. The second part will help adults lead a Shabbat service and read from a Sefer Torah as they celebrate becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Even if you have never studied Hebrew before, this is a wonderful opportunity to embrace and enhance your Jewish heritage!

If you are interested, please contact Lisa Thorner, our Executive Director, at lisa@sinaidenver.org, for more information or to reserve your spot.
