Sinai Tzedek Volunteer Opportunities

Sinai Tzedek provides a number of avenues to engage in meaningful work and connect to others who are involved in these initiatives.

See our different volunteer opportunities below and check our our
Community Board” to stay connected.

Lunches for Metro Caring

Help make food to support people currently experiencing homelessness and provide food for those currently suffering from food insecurity. Volunteers assemble lunches in their own homes and deliver them to Susan and Paul Levine on Mondays. Susan and Paul deliver the lunches to Metro Caring every Tuesday.
If you would like to get involved, please contact Susan Levine at sulevine64@gmail.com.

Habitat for Humanity

Since 2001, Temple Sinai has been part of an interfaith coalition of 12 faith-based congregations in the Denver area, called Habitat Interfaith Alliance (HIA). Our HIA home builds usually occur during the late spring through summer months and take approximately 3 months to complete. Sinai members have the opportunity to build with Sinai congregants, as well as members from other congregations within our coalition. As of 2021, HIA has worked with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver to construct 20 homes in the Denver area. It’s a great way to meet new people, get some fresh air and help build a family’s future. No prior experience is necessary. You will learn all you need to know on the build site. Not able to build? There are many fundraising and awareness projects throughout the year that are fun, valuable and good for the whole family. The actual build days on the construction site are open to adults and teens 16 and older.

Christmas in the Park

Help over 1,000 people experiencing homelessness this winter! We collect NEW hats, gloves, and scarves. Please drop off the items at the Temple Sinai office beginning in December. Additional information will be sent to the congregation as we get closer to the winter holidays.
If you would like to get involved, please contact Susan Levine at sulevine64@gmail.com.

Green Team

The Sinai Temple Green Team in conjunction with Sinai Tzedek, works to advance environmental sustainability for our synagogue community, and the Metro Denver. Our environmental engagement promotes the Jewish ideals of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and tzedek (justice). The Sinai Temple Green Team will seek to:
– Influence the operations of our synagogue so that we reduce adverse impacts on our common air, land, and water.
– Educate our members and community about ways to promote environmental sustainability, and encourage these actions.
– Partner and work with faith and other groups in education and advocacy for sustainability.
– Support efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

If you would like to get involved, please contact Kathy Zeiger at kathyz@sinaidenver.org.

Justice Necessary

A new initiative called Justice Necessary will provide diapers, wipes and feminine hygiene products for the JFS Weinberg Food Pantry. Temple Sinai Members Diane Cushman Neal and Scott Neal will match donations to this initiative up to $18,000 please see: JusticeNecessary.org.
